INKspire Summit 2019 is the first social hackathon about digital literacy in Toronto. This year, we’ll bring together the best and brightest youth across Toronto for a full day of interactive activities, networking and learning!

Registration / Icebreaker

Check-in with our event staff and we’ll assist you in finding a spot. You’ll have some time to chat, introduce yourself and make some new friends.

What the Heck is Digital Literacy? (Panel)

Our panelists from @hivetoronto will share their insights on what digital literacy is, its implications today, and why it is increasingly important to be digitally literate.

11:30 - 12:00 PM

Hacking Commences

You’ll be placed into a group and assigned to an INKspire team lead. The case study your team will be working on will be introduced and revealed.

12:00 - 1:00 PM

Working Lunch!

Enjoy refreshments, take a nap or grab a coffee. Attendees that wish to continue working on the case study with their groups are welcome to do so during lunchtime.

1:00 - 3:00 PM

Hacking Continues

Continue to discuss your ideas, wrap it up and prepare a short presentation. The world is your oyster for your group’s presentation (pitch, skit and slides come to mind!)

3:00 - 4:00 PM

Presentations

Each group will have five minutes to pitch and present their solution to our judges.

4:00 - 4:20 PM

Awards

Everyone’s a winner but our judges will choose the groups they liked the most! Prizes will be awarded to the top groups.

How much does it cost to attend? 

This event is completely free to attend.

Who can participate?

The event is open to any students, recent graduates or young professionals from any field of study who is interested in learning about digital literacy.

Can I sign up with a team?

Participants will need to register as individuals, not teams. During the event, you will have the opportunity to pick your team members. If you prefer that we choose a team for you, that is also something we can help with!

What do you need to bring?

Bring a laptop (optional but useful!), a lot of energy and a desire to learn!

What if I’ve never been to a hackathon before? 

Welcome! Participants of all skill levels will be there. We’ll have talks and mentors to help you with your project. Hackathons can be a great place to learn new skills in a short amount of time.
